Premier League giant, Manchester United on Tuesday, officially launched its third kit for the 2020/2021 football season.

The Adidas Manchester United 2020-21 third jersey introduces a bold and unique look for the club, featuring a ‘dazzle camo’ all-over print in white and black.

‘OT 110 – 110 years of stripes at Old Trafford’ is written on the inside collar alongside the Man Utd logo to celebrate the 110th anniversary of Old Trafford. All logos on the Adidas Manchester United 20-21 third shirt are red, including a monochrome variant of the United crest on the left chest.

The team will wear simple white shorts and socks – the full zebra look is only available for fans to buy. There are no pictures of the on-pitch shorts and socks yet apart from the mini kit.

Two of Nigeria’s biggest celebrities, Grammy-nominated Burna Boy and one of Africa’s biggest Disc-Jockey and producer, DJ Cuppy, on Tuesday featured in United’s official third kit launch.

It is not known if Burna Boy is a Manchester United fan but it is no news that Dj Cuppy became a fan about two months ago after switching allegiances from Premier League side, Arsenal, to Manchester United.

Before the launch, details of the kit were leaked and had gone round on social media during the weekend. The black and white striped jersey was treated to outright rejection and subsequently, series of ridiculous tweets and memes. Many compared the colours to that of zebras and local candy, Tom Tom.

From the reactions the leaked images got, many had feared that the kit would not fare well among fans but in a stroke of marketing genius, Man Utd seem to be turning that around. The Premier League club has now involved stars like former player and fashion icon, David Beckham in the campaign and also taken advantage of its Nigerian connections (not unconnected to player Odion Ighalo) Burna Boy, and DJ Cuppy to push the kits.
